Archived entries for The Forward

Our New Home

Twenty-three months ago, Jennifer and I left San Francisco for London. Though we miss the Bay Area, and have weathered many difficulties since, we’ve never been more convinced that the decision we made to leave America was the right one.

In The Egyptian Plumber and My ‘Eurabia’ Problem, I discuss how the move has impacted me politically. What I’ve learned, where I’ve learned it,  in Milano, as well as in Berlin. Check it all out, in this week’s edition of The Jewish Daily Forward.

The Virtue of Flexibility

My review of Shlomo Sand’s controversial The Invention of the Jewish People is finally out. Check it out, in this week’s Forward.

Invoking the Fetish Object

ForwardReview

The most in-depth review of Israel vs. Utopia to date was published in The Forward yesterday. Combined with reviews of brand new books by Yitzhak Laor and  James Horrox (the title I edited for AK Press), its an honor to keep such company.

Enclosed at the end of the article is an audio interview with yours truly, about IvU, conducted by arts and culture editor Dan Friedman. We recorded it in New York at the end of November, just before I got on my return flight to Milan.

History as Partisanship

A review of two new translations of classic works by Uri Avnery and Israel Eldad, Two Minority Reports reflects on the compressed nature of time, and of ideology, in Israeli politics.
